Checkers

Checkers is a fun game that lots of people play.  How you play checkers is easy.  All you need to play the game is a board made white and black boxes all over the board.  Then after that is done, you get twenty rocks.  Each person gets ten rocks.  You can choose what color you want to put the rocks on, white or black.  To get one rock on the other, you have to get to the other person’s side.  Then you have a king.  You can only move diagonally.

Crayfish Life Cycle

I read about the life cycle of the crayfish.  An important vocabulary word in my book is exoskeleton.  It means having a skeleton on the outside.

Crayfish eat food called plankton.  Some crayfish live thirty years!  Crayfish are related to shrimp, crab, and lobster.

Summer

Summer is so weird that I force it to go.

The sizzling of summer is terrible to know.

It’s going away, just two days to go.

Time to go on my fall vacation.

Let’s go!

Summer’s done.

It’s finally time.

Let’s heat up the engine and go on a ride!

Vertebrate Project: Llamas

  1. Llamas and camels are cousins!  Some llamas can live in Egypt.
  2. Guard llamas are sometimes used in North America.
  3. Llamas will let other species like horses or goats come into their herd, and they will protect them too.
  4. People started bringing llamas to America in the late 1800’s for their wool.
  5. People can make things like warm coats or boots from their wool.
